Martin Helmhout

Martin Helmhout(BEng, BSc, MSc, PhD) received a PhD (distinction) in Management Science from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) in 2006. His background is multidisciplinary: over several years he has acquired expertise in the areas of knowledge management, cognitive psychology, social science, semiotics, computer science and artificial intelligence (multi-agent systems and machine learning).

In 2008, he became a member of the Information:Signals, Images, Systems (ISIS) research group at the University of Southampton and conducted research in secure mobile context-aware distributed recommender systems. Currently, he works with Dr Lizzie Coles-Kemp and Dr Elahe Kani-Zabihi on the VOME project. The current focus of his research interests is in management of personal information; keeping control over collecting, processing, using and sharing of personal information.
