VOME took part in the festival of Social Science at Middlesbrough Railway Station, October 2011. The people of Middlesbrough participated in an artistic co-creation of a Visual and Sound Collage, using the topic of On-Line Privacy. Margareth the Clown and a small team of performers used themed character interactions helping to stimulate thought and creativity.
VOME has developed a series of digital interventions to test hypothesis about how people would engage with awareness technologies. The video above explains the approach and shares some of the outcomes of the research. Download the full Powerpoint presentation here: Digital provocations presentation
VOME asked 8 intrepid participants to spend a couple of days at GameCity designing and developing a game that promoted understanding of online privacy practices.
We took to the streets of Nottingham (well, installed ourselves in the main tent at GameCity) to ask people what online privacy meant to them. See what they had to say:

This is the second film from the “What does privacy look feel and sound like” workshop. Jonathan’s presentation focuses on presenting 10 thoughts and anecdotes on technology, privacy and visibility / invisibility and relates these to his own experience.
VOME is releasing one video per week for the next eight weeks. Each individual film is a specific social commentary on a privacy related topic developed by an artist for one of our workshops.
